Yosemite
National Park El Portal School is located on Yosemite National Park’s
administrative site of El Portal. A
devoted and talented community complements our dedicated and professional
staff. We have an active
Parent Teacher Group and many parent volunteers. Our small size affords
the opportunity for students and parents to build relationships with
staff. El Portal is a small town located in the Merced River canyon fifteen miles west of Yosemite Valley and thirty miles east of Mariposa. The children attending our small K-6 school have parents who are employed in Yosemite National Park or in the park support community of El Portal. English is the predominant language, although 25% of our students are bilingual Spanish-English. Curriculum and instruction are driven by district adopted academic standards. Instruction is often theme-based, with strong science, visual and performing arts components. Parents and our Yosemite National Park partners contribute to the rich learning environment. |
